Federal Disaster Assistance Available to Santa Rosa County Residents Following Hurricane Isaias

Additional federal disaster assistance is now available to eligible Santa Rosa County residents following President Donald J. Trump's amendment to Florida's Major Disaster Declaration for Hurricane Isaias, which impacted the state October 6-12, 2026.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that the amended declaration authorizes additional federal assistance for individuals and families in eight Florida counties, including Santa Rosa, Bay, Escambia, Gulf, Holmes, Okaloosa, Walton and Washington counties.

Assistance may include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-interest loans to help cover uninsured property losses and other programs designed to support individuals and families as they recover from the disaster.

Residents who experienced damage or losses as a result of Hurricane Isaias should first file a claim with their insurance provider before applying for federal assistance.

Eligible residents can apply through one of the following methods:

  • Online: Visit DisasterAssistance.gov
  • By phone: Call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362
  • FEMA App: Download and use the FEMA mobile app

Residents who use a relay service, such as video relay service (VRS) or captioned telephone service, should provide FEMA with the number for that service when applying.

Brett H. Howard has been named the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected areas. Additional counties or forms of assistance may be designated as recovery efforts continue and further damage assessments are completed.
