DESCRIPTION:Florida 1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team - Region 1 State Medical Response Team Get Acquainted and Educational Session\n\n\n\nYou are invited to join us on Saturday the 14th for our monthly training and our quarterly newcomer/new member orientation.\n\n\n\nAt 9 AM we'll introduce you to both the federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) and the co-located Region 1 State Medical Response Team (MRC-SMRT1) and tell you a bit of our history and what we do\, introduce you to our leadership\, and show you around our facility to see the sort of equipment that's right here in the event of a disaster requiring medical assistance.  You don't need to be in medicine to be involved with the Teams.  While we're always looking for additional medical professionals\, we also need folks who are proficient in logistics\, administration\, communications\, security\, electronics\, vehicle maintenance\, and vehicle operations.\n\n\n\nAt 10 AM we conduct a short business meeting and will then be presenting a training program on Hemorrhagic Viral diseases\, focusing mostly on Ebola\, and introduce those in attendance to donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  We'll be looking for three volunteers to go through that exercise and hopefully impress upon everyone that it's something that needs to be practiced on a regular basis and is a little bit complicated\, especially when the consequences of improper donning and doffing of PPE can have dire consequences.\n\n\n\nOur facility is at 755 Lovejoy Road\, Ft. Walton Beach.  It's at the far west end of Lovejoy right before you run into the fence around Hurlburt Field and right across the street from PAWS and the Okaloose County Animal Shelter.\n\n\n\nPlease join us and get to know what we\, your neighbors\, do year round and have been doing for over 25 years.
