The most decorated living veteran of the nation's armed forces will be honored October 12 when Colonel Bud Day Boulevard is officially opened. The roadway named in tribute to Day, an Okaloosa County resident, runs from State Road 397 at Government Avenue in Valparaiso to the East Gate of Eglin Air Force Base.
Designation ceremonies will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, October 12, at Doolittle Park in Valparaiso. Colonel and Mrs. Day will attend and the public is invited.
Legislation to designate the roadway was introduced and passed in the 2010 session of the Florida Legislature by Senator Don Gaetz and Representatives Dave Murzin and Matt Gaetz.
