Florida Business Leaders Summit Series on Prosperity & Economic Opportunity
A Five Part Virtual Event Series on Ending Inequality of Opportunity in Florida
2017 marked the Florida Chamber Foundation’s inaugural Florida Business Leaders Summit on Prosperity & Economic Opportunity, and it has quickly become one of the Chamber’s most anticipated events. Due to the COVID-19 disruption, the live summit scheduled for May will now be a virtual event series. Despite this disruption, the work of the Prosperity Initiative continues and is more important than ever. The working poor are more likely to work in jobs that could see hours cut and staffing reductions as employers grapple with how to provide for their employees in a time when consumer activity has been greatly reduced.
As Mark Wilson said when he testified before Congress on this issue, “The battle of this generation is between economic equality and economic opportunity — between those who believe that everyone is entitled to prosperity and those who believe everyone is entitled to the opportunity to succeed.” Join business and industry leaders as well as elected officials and community voices as we analyze a path to prosperity for each of Florida’s zip codes. We will also discuss best practices around the state, how they can be replicated and more. The Florida Chamber Foundation’s research shows the 10 root causes of generational poverty are: Jobs, Education, Housing, Health, Food, Safety, Child Care, Justice, Transportation and Agency-Community Voice. Webinar conversations will focus around several of these root cause topic areas. Don’t miss out on adding your voice to the conversation.
