Community Emergency Response Team Training Offered
Navarre CERT will host a Community Emergency Response Team training March 21-23 and March 28-30. Classes the first weekend will take place at St Sylvester Catholic Church, 6464 Gulf Breeze Parkway in Gulf Breeze. Further information will be provided before the class starts. Topics will include first aid, disaster psychology, fire prevention and basic firefighting techniques, disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue and terrorism. Adults and teens 14-17 years old are encouraged to take advantage of this free training that will certify participants as CERT members and allow them to join current teams or form new teams in their own community. All who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion and a backpack containing a CERT vest and other safety equipment. CERT is an official emergency preparedness program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Participants are required to attend all six classes to successfully complete the course:
