Hiring Our Heroes, in partnership with Blue Star Families, is excited to announce that more than 100 employers have signed the 4+1 Commitment: The Formula for Military Spouse Success.
“This milestone is an important one,” said Angie Hood, manager of events and engagement at Hiring Our Heroes. “The group of employers that have signed on represent various industries and includes corporations, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations across the country.”
The 4+1 Commitment offers a scalable, actionable, and effective solution for employers to recruit and retain talented military spouses.
“These employers joined 4+1 because they are focused on the same goal – improving employment outcomes for military spouses while also building a skilled, diverse workforce within their organizations. Hiring Our Heroes is grateful for their commitment to helping move the needle on military spouse unemployment,” Hood said.

HOH Ambassador Dakota Meyer Participates in Promotion Ceremonies |
|
Hiring Our Heroes is committed to creating economic opportunities and meaningful careers for veterans and military spouses. Sometimes, our support may involve transition and identifying a civilian career. In other cases, our commitment involves supporting those who volunteer to serve in the Armed Forces.
The latter was on full display in Hawaii recently. Led by Medal of Honor recipient and Toyota Brand Ambassador Dakota Meyer, Hiring Our Heroes was honored to participate in promotion and re-enlistment ceremonies for sailors, soldiers, and Marines currently stationed in Hawaii.
During his remarks, Dakota underscored the importance of continued service and how imperative it is — especially in today’s world of political unrest — that we retain America’s best and brightest in service.
Dakota also emphasized the critical role military spouse employment plays in taking care of our military families.
Hiring Our Heroes ambassadors shine a light on military transition and veteran and military spouse careers, highlighting resources and best practices for military-connected job seekers and educating employers and community leaders on the value of veteran and military spouse talent. The program, launched in 2012 with support from Toyota, reaches tens of thousands of members of the military community annually. |

Transition Trucking Names 10 Rookie Drivers as 2024 Semi-Finalists |
|
FASTPORT, Kenworth, and Hiring Our Heroes recently announced the semi-finalists in the ninth annual Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award. The 10 drivers represent five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, including the Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserves.
"We are immensely proud to recognize this diverse group, including many drivers in Registered Apprenticeship Programs," said Brad Bentley, president of FASTPORT. Nearly 65% of this year’s nominees participated in registered apprenticeship programs.
Next, the semi-finalists will be recognized and the finalists announced during a ceremony at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Ohio, followed by a Kenworth Chillicothe manufacturing plant tour in September.
Public voting for the 2024 Transition Trucking winner opens in November.
The winner will receive the keys to the grand prize – a T680 Signature Edition truck – in December.
“The Transition Trucking award campaign highlights the impact veterans are making in the transportation industry and introduces a new generation of veterans to the real economic opportunity a career in trucking can represent,” said Eric Eversole, president of Hiring Our Heroes and a vice president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. |
