Debris Information
The first pass of debris pickup began on Wednesday, October 14, on public, county-maintained roads. There will be multiple passes for debris removal. In a typical storm event, it takes an average of three passes to collect all debris from roadways. However, the amount of debris from this storm is far greater than usual. Crews will make as many passes as necessary to collect all storm debris. Residents will receive plenty of advance notice before the final pass is made, so everyone has time to ensure their debris is placed for collection. Santa Rosa County has an estimated 1.8 million cubic yards. The estimated cost of removal is $23 million. As of Thursday, October 22, crews have collected over 350,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris and over 100 cubic yards of C&D debris.
