Santa Rosa County announces new flood risk resources and partnership with floodplain management platform Forerunner

The county will utilize Forerunner to upgrade floodplain management operations and provide residents with flood risk data and resources for individual properties

Santa Rosa County has publicly announced their partnership with Forerunner, a floodplain management platform that delivers actionable, property-level flood risk information that will enhance compliance, outreach and floodplain management efforts for the entirety of Santa Rosa’s near 200,000 resident community.

The partnership includes a new flood risk portal that makes it easier for Santa Rosa County residents, real estate and insurance professionals, developers and others to seamlessly access flood risk information for individual properties. Making it particularly easier for the county while it continues to undergo increasing residential and commercial development as they’ll be able to utilize Forerunner as a document management system that will make handling the consistent influx of permits significantly easier.

“We’re no strangers to a challenge, but upgrading our resources with Forerunner will make managing our floodplain management work a lot easier,” said Tambre Lee, Santa Rosa County Building Official. “We’re excited to streamline our workflow before, during, and after a disaster to help inform and educate our residents on how to keep themselves and their property safe.”

Being a coastal community that extends from the Gulf Coast to the Alabama Line, the county has several rivers and floodways to manage on top of regularly occurring hurricanes and tropical storms - most notably Hurricane Sally in 2020, and a heavy rain event in 2014 that left them with 20 inches of rain in 24 hours.

“Building resilient communities and helping to protect people and their properties is at the heart of everything we do,” said Susanna Pho, Co-Founder and COO of Forerunner. “Santa Rosa is a county built on resilience and hard work, and we’re happy to be helping them take those efforts to the next level.”
