Northwest Florida Shows Up for Its Neighbors

Thank you to Cat Country 98.7, WEAR-TV, News Radio 92.3, Cordova Mall, our generous local business partners, and everyone who stopped by, spread the word, or donated during Northwest Florida Cares on Oct. 21. Your support sent a clear message to families facing a difficult road ahead: United is the way we recover.

Many people in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties are still dealing with damaged homes, unexpected expenses, and the uncertainty of what comes next. Recovery takes time, and it will take all of us working together to help our neighbors rebuild.

Through the United Way of West Florida Recovery Fund, donations stay local and support long-term recovery efforts through partnerships with local organizations. Every contribution helps strengthen the network of support our neighbors need in the months ahead.

The UWWF Recovery Fund is still open--help us reach our $500,000 goal!

If you can donate, please do. If you can't, please share this information with your network. Northwest Florida is a community that takes care of its own. Thank you for continuing to show up, lend a hand, and remind our neighbors that they are not facing recovery alone. This is what it means to be united.

211 Northwest Florida Sees 437% Increase in Call Volume Following Hurricane Isaias

Since Hurricane Isaias made landfall on October 9, 211 Northwest Florida has experienced a 437% increase in call volume as residents seek help with housing, utilities, food, and other essential needs. United Way of West Florida (UWWF) continues to connect residents with available resources while coordinating community support for the storm’s ongoing impact in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Northwest Florida Comes Together to Support Hurricane Isaias Recovery

United Way of West Florida’s Recovery Fund has surpassed $325,000, with a goal of raising $500,000 to support long-term recovery efforts across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

When Hurricane Isaias swept through Northwest Florida, it left families across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties facing property damage, unexpected expenses, and uncertainty about what comes next. As residents continue working to recover, United Way of West Florida (UWWF) is bringing the community together to help ensure local recovery efforts have the support they need.

UWWF supports a range of programs and initiatives through Healthy Schools Escambia to help students thrive academically, physically and emotionally. By connecting students and families with essential resources, health screenings and community support, HSE works to remove barriers to learning and create healthier school environments where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Growing healthier families, one class at a time!

Congratulations to the first cohort of the 2026–2027 school year of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) at West Pensacola Elementary School on completing their classes!

Following the summer EFNEP classes, HSE is excited to continue bringing nutrition education and healthy living skills to their school community. Families are building knowledge and skills to make nutritious food choices, prepare healthy meals, and support healthier lifestyles at home.

Global Learning Academy's 4th-grade explorers embarked on an exciting trip to Florida Caverns State Park! They had the chance to see the effects of weathering and erosion firsthand.

During their hikes, students discovered native Florida plant species, learned about the rich history and development of the caves, and ended the day with a guided tour inside the famous caverns.

By the end of the journey, our explorers could identify the minerals that formed the caverns, share the history behind them, and explain the difference between weathering and erosion.
