United Way of West Florida's Day of Caring

Thank you for your support of United Way of West Florida (UWWF) initiatives! We would like to invite you to join our next volunteer event, Day of Caring, on October 18!

If you are not familiar with Day of Caring, it is a community-wide initiative that connects volunteers and resources with local agencies and schools needing support.

Since 1993, United Way of West Florida has coordinated 28,754 volunteers to complete 2,640 projects across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. Each year, we're heartened to see hundreds - sometimes thousands! - of people working together to complete all kinds of projects that provide additional capacity to the organizations and institutions that keep our community strong.

Nonprofits and schools host volunteer groups on this one day to complete projects most needed at their sites. Last year, 728 volunteers completed over 68 projects with 3,108 hours of work ranging from yard work, food service at shelters, reading to children, painting walls, and even building homes. The value of their donated time is estimated to have a $98,834.40 impact on our community!

For volunteers, it is a great way of team building and having fun while giving back to the community and learning about resources.

For nonprofits and schools, it is a great way to share your agency’s mission to a new group of folks and have projects completed at your site that will allow you to focus more on your agency’s clients and services.

If you would like to host a project or have your team volunteer, there are two steps we ask you to take:

  1. Complete the interest form on the Day of Caring webpage. Completing the interest form is the best way for our team to share updates and reminders with your team.
    1. Volunteers will complete the “Volunteer Interest Form”.
    2. Nonprofits and schools will complete the “Project Interest Form”.
  1. RSVP to the Project Leader Training. During this training, you will hear from the Day of Caring committee about the history of Day of Caring, how to prepare for the event, and how to utilize Get Connected, UWWF’s volunteer platform. This training will be virtual via Microsoft Teams. A link will be sent out the day before the training. You can RSVP to this training using Get Connected.
    1. For volunteers, training will be on Friday, August 16th, 8:30-9:30am. Click here to sign up.
    2. For nonprofits and schools, training will be on Monday, August 19th, 3:30-4:30pm. Click here to sign up.
    3. Note – information on a make-up training will be sent out soon.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you!
